why is scratching of bare soles using fingernails tickle wayyyyg much more then actual feather tickling? and why is hairbrushing bare soles even more ticklish then that? (not for everyone human obvs but for loads me including) -curioustkboy

Well you see while feathers merely tickle and run a teasing sensasion into you, solid tickle tools have more friction and density and so when they press into you it cause more stimulation and so sharper or more narrow surfaces such as nails are able to pin point spots rather than send the sensation of a full surface which allows more focus on where they aree touching. and it’s not enough to have the right tool it also pays in HOW YOU MOVE THE TOOL!~ For example the Paint Brush is arguably a good example for a tickle tool not simply because it tickles but because it poeticly symbolises what tickling truely is~ an Art. Sure fingers or feathers give people more an idea of tickling as they are verry synomomus with the meaning. Featehrs more so however basicly because like the brush you can manipulat ethe feather in differant ways to get differant reactions. but at the end of the day the feather is a soft tool. even when you have stiff feathers they are soft. Soft tickling can still be affective but firm tickling is going send a message to your brain much more agressively and quickly. It’s a flex of power, a show of strength. Plus the body quickly recognizes that something is scratching at the surface and that’s the point of the whole since of touche. Touche allows us to understand what we are making physical contact with and when her are tickle by something hard, it’s our mind recognizing that something hard is pressing against us and as it presses further and deeper it sends red flags to the brain. however because it’s not being done in a painful way it instead feels more like tickling but far more entinse!~

Even though you might be lightly scratching a person, your body recognizes how solid those nails are compared to how soft a feather is.

Ever seen those scenes in cartoons or live action where someone is atacking another person and is trying to hurt them but their apponent laughs and sais"THAT TICKLES!“ because they seem so emune to the atacks that they don’t even hurt? So long as the lee isn’t getting hurt, their probabaly goign to be tickled instead. course if you have realy sharp claws that can rip flesh then how much presure you use realy does makes the differance between if you do physical injurie vs tickling hard. Your nails are basicly weapons but by using them in the tame fashion of not trying to dig or claw to hard, they can make for effeciant tickling tools. A feather on the other hand , unless it’s made of something hard and sharp it’s not going to do physical damage let alone injurie, but that also means the worst it can do is tickling . How well the feather tickles realy does depend on the texture, the densitiy and so on.

Hope this makes since and is infomative.
